The Top Five Most Common Plastic Surgeries at a GlanceAs you can imagine, Cleveland plastic surgeons receive many questions about national trends and the procedures we offer here locally. In a few more months, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons will release their annual report on the number and types of procedures performed in 2014. It looks like that report will share many similarities with the 2012 and 2013 reports, which listed these top five surgeries both years:

Breast Augmentation – This refers to increasing breast cup size through the use of implants. Like our counterparts throughout the country, Cleveland plastic surgeons offer both saline and silicone implants in all different sizes. In 2013, approximately 290,000 women underwent the procedure, which is a slight increase compared to the 286,000 women who had the surgery in 2012. This continues to be one of the most popular surgeries available in the United States.

Nose Reshaping – A rhinoplasty, or nose job, gives patients the opportunity to address a number of issues, including a bulbous tip, extra wide or narrow size, crooked alignment, and many others. It can also help those with breathing problems related to a deviated septum by opening up the passageway. 221,000 patients had this surgery completed in 2013, and 243,000 patients did in 2012.

Eyelid Surgery – Drooping eyelids and under-eye bags are key signs of premature aging. Eyelid surgery can remedy those issues, adding a youthful appearance and, in some cases, removing tissue that obstructs patients vision. There were 216,000 of these procedures completed nationally in 2013, and 204,000 completed in 2012.

Liposuction – 200,000 men and women had liposuction in 2013, representing a slight decrease from the 202,000 who underwent the procedure in 2012. Cleveland plastic surgeons offer this procedure as a surgical solution to remove unwanted fat cells from targeted areas such as the stomach or thighs.

Facelift – Many patients agree that nothing repairs signs of facial aging as well as a facelift. This procedure was completed 133,000 times in 2013 and 126,000 times in 2012, making it the fifth most popular procedure both years.

Cleveland plastic surgeons offer these popular procedures and many more. Whether you’re interested in getting rid of fat, reshaping an area of the body or a facial feature, or reaching an aesthetic goal through the use of cosmetic surgery, I invite you to make it happen in 2015. There’s no better time than the present to make your beauty goals a reality!
