Liposuction

Look your best, from the start.

Liposuction in Cleveland, OH

Nothing can shatter self-esteem and cause an otherwise confident person to cover up like unsightly fat deposits in the abdomen, chest, thigh, buttocks, neck, chin, knees, or other regions. Dr. Nicholas Husni and the professionals at the Neo Aesthetic Institute can help you get rid of stubborn fat with liposuction. Located in the heart of Lyndhurst, Dr. Husni is proud to offer liposuction to residents of Cleveland, Akron, and the neighboring communities in Ohio.

What is Liposuction?

Liposuction uses a gentle suction technique to permanently remove fat cells that collect between the muscle and skin. Liposuction also reshapes your treated areas to compensate for the decrease in fat, revealing your body's true, natural contours. At Neo Aesthetic Institute, Dr. Nicholas Husni and his staff are well equipped to perform your liposuction procedure and help you slim down your arms, chest, back, thighs, buttocks, chin, neck or abdomen. Liposuction may be performed alone or can be combined with other body contouring procedures like a tummy tuck to help you achieve the ultimate contoured look. Patients who receive their liposuctions from Dr. Husni leave the clinic with newfound confidence, reinvigorated by their beautiful curves.

How Much Does Liposuction Cost in Cleveland, OH?

The cost of your liposuction procedure is going to depend on the extent of the procedure needed to help you achieve your desired results. Dr. Husni will go over the details of your liposuction procedure including its overall cost during the time of your private consultation. At Neo Aesthetic Institute, we are happy to offer financing options that allow you the comfort and convenience of paying for your procedure at your leisure.

How do I Prepare for my Liposuction Procedure?

As with any plastic surgery, liposuction requires the patients and surgeon to follow specific steps before, during, and after the procedure. Before your liposuction procedure, you will sit down with Dr. Husni to discuss your medical history and ultimate goals. Once Dr. Husni evaluates your suitability for liposuction surgery through a physical exam, he will provide you with a set of pre-surgery instructions. These include not smoking, avoiding taking anti-inflammatory drugs such as aspirin, and hydrating often. In some cases, he may request that the patient reaches a certain weight goal before moving forward with the surgery to aid in producing desired results.

What Can I Expect During my Liposuction Procedure?

On the day of your liposuction procedure, you will undergo a medical examination in order to make sure you are ready for the procedure. Afterward, local, general, or intravenous anesthesia will be administered to ensure you remain comfortable throughout your entire surgery. The liposuction procedure itself will then be performed through a series of small, discrete incisions around your problem areas. A thin, hollow tube called a cannula will be inserted through the incisions, and Dr. Husni uses a gentle back and forth motion to loosen unwanted fat. Once the fat is detached from the muscle and skin, it is gently sucked through the cannula using a surgical vacuum and syringe. This is repeated in every incision until Dr. Husni achieves your desired results.

In addition to the traditional suction-assisted liposuction, our patients may also take advantage of other state-of-the-art fat removing procedures:

  • Ultrasound-assisted liposuction: Ultrasound, or high-pitched, sound waves are used to liquefy fat, speeding up the removal process. This technique is especially effective in the upper chest, back, and sides.
  • Laser-assisted liposuction: Similar to the ultrasound-assisted technique, this laser-assisted procedure uses low-energy heat waves to liquefy fat. The fat is then removed through the cannula.

Liposuction is usually performed on an outpatient basis, however, the patient is free to leave the clinic directly after surgery. It is strongly advised you arrange for a friend or family member to drive you home following your liposuction procedure. Those who receive a large amount of liposuction may stay overnight.

What Can I Expect During my Liposuction Recovery?

Liposuction is a less intensive plastic surgery procedure than traditional body contouring surgeries, but it still requires a recovery period. Immediately after the surgery, your incisions may leak as they continue to drain fluid. Some patients may even need a drainage tube to transport fluid away from the wound, and all patients will need to wear special surgical garments to compress the skin for four to six weeks. It is normal to see some redness, bruising, and swelling immediately after your liposuction procedure, and for some, the swelling will remain for weeks. Once the anesthetic wears off, patients may experience mild pain or discomfort.

It is recommended that patients rest and abstain from vigorous physical activity in the first two weeks following surgery. Patients cannot take aspirin or anti-inflammatory medication during this period, and they should also avoid smoking. The majority of patients return to work a few days after their liposuction treatment.

Am I a Good Candidate for Liposuction?

Diet and exercise can do wonders for one’s figure, but they are not always effective in every region of the body. When traditional methods fail, liposuction can boost your results. To become a candidate for this surgery, you must have a minimal amount of excess skin and good skin elasticity. The best patients for this surgery also have localized deposits of fat in specific areas including:

  • Abdomen
  • Thighs
  • Buttocks
  • Hips
  • Inner Knee
  • Back and Chest
  • Neck and Chin
  • Upper Arm

These areas of excess fat are often hereditary, making them almost impossible to remove through other means. It is important that patients are physically fit with a stable body weight. At our clinic, we recommend that patients are no more than 20 pounds overweight or are within 30 percent of their ideal weight. If you plan on losing or gaining a significant amount of weight, it is not advisable to undergo liposuction. The best candidates for liposuction are also nonsmokers who do not suffer from any medical conditions that impair healing.

Patients must approach the surgery with realistic expectations and goals. Liposuction is not a substitute for dieting and exercise, nor is it a strategy for extreme weight loss. Liposuction is also not a good option for patients looking to reduce the appearance of cellulite or stretch marks, as those do not fade with the removal of excess fat.
