Rhinoplasty

Look your best, from the start.

Rhinoplasty in Cleveland, OH

Rhinoplasty is a surgical cosmetic procedure that not only improves the appearance of your nose, but it also may be used to improve your breathing ability. Located in the heart of Lyndhurst, Dr. Husni and the professionals at Neo Aesthetic Institute are proud to offer rhinoplasty to residents of Cleveland, Akron, and the neighboring communities in Ohio.

What is Rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty is a form of plastic surgery that can be used to reposition and reshape your nose. Also known as a nose job, this procedure can be paired with a second procedure, septoplasty, during which the dividing cartilage in your nose is repaired or repositioned to promote proper airflow and better breathing. Septoplasty can be used to alleviate the adverse effects of a deviated septum, such as mouth breathing, sleep apnea, and snoring. Rhinoplasty surgery may also be used to correct congenital defects, nasal traumas, or other factors that make breathing difficult.

During the procedure, Dr. Husni aims to improve the overall symmetry and proportion of the facial features. The nose is malleable in that it has an ample amount of skin and cartilage, which have a significant level of plasticity, both of which allow for a variety of surgical techniques to alter the nose’s appearance. At the Neo Aesthetic Institute, our rhinoplasty surgeon can modify most aspects of the nose, including the width of the nasal bridge, the size of your nose, the location of the nostrils, or the shape and position of the nasal tip.

How Much Does Rhinoplasty Cost in Cleveland, OH?

How do I Prepare for my Rhinoplasty?

Dr. Husni will help you prepare for your rhinoplasty prior to surgery so you know exactly what to expect. He will begin by assessing your overall health through reviewing your medical history, and the type of medications and herbal supplements you take to determine if you need to make any lifestyle modifications.

Dr. Husni will do everything he can to educate you and prepare you for nose job. He will explain what you can expect during your rhinoplasty procedure and recovery and will provide you with detailed instructions to achieve optimal results, including:

  • What you should do leading up to surgery
  • What you should and shouldn’t do the day of surgery
  • Adjustments in medications and dietary supplements
  • Lifestyle adjustments such as changing your diet and quitting smoking
  • Ways to take care of your nose after surgery
  • Steps to take for the best recovery

What Can I Expect During my Rhinoplasty?

First, Dr. Husni will administer anesthesia to ensure your total comfort throughout your rhinoplasty. Your nose job may be performed in one of two ways. The first option is a closed rhinoplasty procedure in which incisions are made inside the nose, hidden from view. If a closed rhinoplasty is not possible, Dr. Husni will conduct an open procedure and a small incision will be made across the tissue that separates the nostrils. Through these incisions, the skin will be gently raised, allowing Dr. Husni to reshape the bones and cartilage of the nose. Depending on the current shape of your nose and your desired result, Dr. Husni will either remove bone and cartilage to decrease the size of the nose or add cartilage grafts, from either your septum or your ear, in order to improve the projection of your nose. During this time, Dr. Husni will also address any issues with septum deviation in order to allow proper airflow. Finally, the skin and tissue are repositioned, and the incisions are closed and sutured. Splints may be placed inside the nose in order to help it hold its new shape during your recovery process. Rhinoplasty surgery is almost always an outpatient procedure, and most patients are be able to return home the same day.

What Can I Expect During my Rhinoplasty Recovery?

Rhinoplasty patients can expect to have a shorter recovery period than other invasive facial surgeries. The anesthesia may leave you feeling drowsy for the first day or two following your procedure. Typically, the first 48 hours after the operation will be the most painful, during which many patients choose to use prescribed pain medication. After the first two days of rhinoplasty recovery, most patients are able to use over-the-counter medication to manage their pain.

The first week after your rhinoplasty, you will be required to wear a cast or splint and should expect to see significant swelling and bruising. The swelling can leave some patients feeling more congested than usual. However, others who had difficulty breathing prior to the procedure might immediately notice a significant improvement in their ability to breathe. Some patients have reported experiencing numbness at the tip of the nose. This is normal and will pass after a few weeks of recovery.

Many patients return to work or school within days of their rhinoplasty procedure. However, many patients choose to take the week off. After about five to seven days, you will go back to Dr. Husni to remove any stitches, splints, and tubes placed in the nose during the operation.

By week two or three, approximately 70 percent of your swelling will diminish. By the sixth week, swelling will reduce by 80 to 85 percent. It is common for patients to experience abnormal sensations in their nose throughout these first six weeks or recovery. As the recovery process continues to progress, the skin around the new nose will tighten. Approximately one year after surgery, all signs of swelling and discoloration will have faded, and the patient will be able to see the full results of the surgery.

During the recovery period, patients may feel the urge to be overly cautious about touching and bumping their nose. Patients are strongly advised to avoid heavy exercise or instances where their nose may be exposed to heavy contact (i.e. contact sports) for the first couple of weeks following surgery.

Am I a Good Candidate for Rhinoplasty?

There are many reasons why a patient chooses to undergo rhinoplasty.

  • To improve the appearance of the nose
  • To repair a deviated septum
  • To repair the nose after an injury
  • To bring greater symmetry to the face
  • To reduce snoring and other effects of sleep apnea

If you suffer from any of these issues, Dr. Husni will design a personalized procedure plan to best address your medical and aesthetic concerns. The ideal candidate for rhinoplasty is fully developed and has undergone puberty. If facial features continue to grow, the overall effects of the procedure can be de-emphasized, resulting in the need for a secondary procedure. As with any surgery, it is important that the patient is otherwise healthy. This ensures a faster recovery period with less chance of complications. Patients who smoke are advised to stop well before the surgery, as smoking before or after the operation can affect the overall condition of the nasal cavities and disrupt the healing process.

What is the price of Rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty can cost $4,500.00. Please schedule your one-on-one consultation with Dr. Husni today for an exact price.

Rhinoplasty FAQs

What does a rhinoplasty do?

A rhinoplasty changes the shape of the nose by reshaping the bone and cartilage in the nose. This bone and cartilage can be removed to slim and contour the nose, or cartilage can be added to optimize the nose’s shape. Ultimately, a rhinoplasty enhances the nose’s appearance to complement the rest of the facial features and improve the overall appearance.

How painful is a nose job?

The nose job procedure is performed with anesthesia, eliminating any discomfort during the surgery. The discomfort after a nose job is fairly mild compared to other procedures, and it can be easily managed with pain medications. It is important to consider, however, that a nose job requires a splint to be worn, and a full recovery may take several weeks.

Are nose jobs safe?

Yes, nose jobs are actually considered one of the safest cosmetic procedures. The risk and occurrence of complications from a rhinoplasty are incredibly rare, so most patients can receive a nose job with minimal risk.

What is the best age for a nose job?

Almost any age can be the best age for a nose job! A rhinoplasty can be performed in younger patients, middle-aged patients and even elderly patients. However, we do recommend that patients wait to get a rhinoplasty until the nose has fully grown. For most patients, this happens in the late teenage years. After this, any age where a patient feels strongly about making a change in their appearance can be the perfect age for a nose job.

How long is nose job recovery?

The initial recovery period following a nose job is about one week. During this time, patients are encouraged to take time away from work and social activities to rest and heal. Swelling and discomfort can persist for several weeks, but patients are generally able to return to their normal routines after the first week. Patients can expect to make a full recovery within about six months of their rhinoplasty.
