As any plastic surgeon will tell you, the number one reason people consider cosmetic surgery is that they don’t want to look older than they feel. Whether caused by genetics, environment, or some combination of the two, premature aging is a major issue in modern times. And, more often than not, it’s a skin-related one!
Because it takes a daily beating from the elements, most signs of aging are literally written on our faces. Fortunately, there are a handful of anti-aging cosmetic procedures that can treat and rejuvenate damaged skin. Here are a few popular treatment options I offer at the Neo Aesthetic Institute.
Your journey to healthy, younger looking skin often begins with an effective skincare regimen. The products I prescribe are specially designed to prevent and repair the visible signs of aging that affect nearly all adults. These powerful products contain ingredients that are clinically proven to reduce wrinkles. When followed to the letter, patients often report a marked improvement in skin texture and appearance after following a doctor-recommended skincare regimen.
Because surgery is not for everyone, injectables have emerged as a viable alternative. The FDA-approved products I use are placed under the skin of the face to reduce wrinkles, add volume, and reduce the appearance of sagging or dropping skin. I offer the following safe and effective injectables as options: Dysport® and Botox®, Restylane® and Perlane®, Juvederm™ Ultra and Ultra Plus, Radiesse®, and Sculptra®, among others. Since each works best on different parts of the face, the product you will need depends on the problem area you would like to address.
Removing the upper layers of dead and damaged skin with either salicylic or glycolic acid is a proven way to encourage skin cell regeneration. These simple anti-aging cosmetic procedures are popular with patients who have relatively minor skin imperfections. Because it only removes the top layers of skin, a light chemical peel will not improve the appearance of deep wrinkles and acne scars.
Because they go deeper into the skin than chemical peels, laser resurfacing generally requires longer recovery times. Recommended for patients who have deeper wrinkles, age spots, scars, and birthmarks, these anti-aging cosmetic procedures can make the skin feel and look tighter, smoother, and younger.
Manually tightening and/or removing loose facial and neck skin can produce amazing results for most patients. There is, of course, down time with surgery, but if you are willing to endure it, a facelift, brow lift, eyelid surgery, or some combination of the three can address most signs of premature aging.
